a little beast!
come to join me in this great undoing.

the old world will soon vanish, wiped from history,
to pave a path for the dawning of a new era.

how many have been consumed so far?
were we the tenth civilization, or the thousandth?
amusingly, they thought their small struggles bore such great significance.

all was naught but to serve the void.

rain world is a 2017 indie game by videocult, initially published by adult swim games, then by akupara games.
it's a physics based survival platformer often labelled as a metroidvania, but truly falls into a genre of its own.
you play as a lone slugcat, separated from its family as it tries to navigate an unknown and hostile environment, moving
from region to region, avoiding predators and taking shelter from the bone-crushing rain that threatens all life.
the game features immersive environments and rich creature AI that makes it both a fascinating and punishing experience.

although it is easy to get frustrated while playing, you must remember that death means nothing until you are ready to move on.

you are stuck in a cycle. you want a way out.

rain world is a game i started playing at a very low point in my life, over a year ago now. i'd heard a lot of good things about it and decided to try it out. i dedicated a lot of time to my first campaign (like, a lot of time; my first survivor run went for over 30 hours and 120 cycles) because every little detail about the game just completely captivated me. the more i played, the more questions arose, and the more i strove for answers. when i met five pebbles for the first time, i knew my fate was sealed.

i got the downpour dlc immediately after finishing survivor. it only solidified my love for this game. without saying too much, the endings for rivulet, spearmaster and saint affected and changed me in ways i can't begin to describe. seeing this world develop brought nothing but immense comfort during a time where i felt isolated and alone. it's hard to put into words how truly important this game is to me, but it's just so. so!!!!!!! what a beautiful experience i got to have.
